Tech | Multi-player gaming on ONE screen. That’s right, ONE SCREEN.

3D is the only thing worth talking about these days when it comes to televisions. Sony, who are always at the forefront of television, first gave us the idea of using 3D technology to display two simultaneous video feeds on one TV last year. Philips now wants to get in on the action and have given us this.

The Philips’ 6000 and 7000 3D TVs are similar to the Sony Playstation 3D. The users must wear a pair of very fashionable 3D glasses. The brilliant thing about the glasses is that each pair receives a different video feed, which means that each player sees a different picture.

So why buy a Philips TV and not the Playstation? Well the TV is a TV: it has all the functionalities of a television and is not just a screen display. It also has a much larger screen (range from 32-55 inches) whereas the Sony’s 3D Display sits at a diminuative 24-inches.

Fast 800Hz refresh rates on the 7000 series TVs should also eliminate any potential ghosting/chafing.

Philips hasn’t detailed how its TVs will work with gaming and whether or not they’ll work with movies as TCL’s prototype display did at CES. They are also yet to announce prices (most likely very expensive).

The Sony PlayStation 3D Display’s SimulView only works with compatible games that support the feature. It’ll be interesting to see if Philips’ TVs will work with all video game consoles for all multiplayer modes, and not just supported ones. Hopefully no game patching will be required.

This product will definitely not be one to miss and could transform the gaming and television market.

Will you be buying one? Tell us below!
